CHARLES H. BARTH - (1858-1926) - Army Engineer, born in Iowa.
Graduated at West Point (1881). Apache Indian Campaign (1881)
and Phillipine Insurrection (1899-1902). Instructor of
Infantry and Cavalry School and Staff College, and recommended
four times for brevet commendation for bravery in action in
Phillipine Insurrection; citation and Silver Star (1899);
recommended twice for D.S.M.; decorated by French Government
with Legioin of Honor (officers' grade) and Croix de Guerre
(means Cross of War) with Palui. Commanded defenses of Manilla
and Subic Bays (1921).
