THOMAS F. FARRELL, JR. - (1920-43) - Army Engineer. Born in Kentucky
in 1920. Graduated at U.S. Military Academy (1942) and was
commissioned 2nd Lt. assigned to the Signal Corps. Transferred to
Corps of Engineers in August, 1942, and was promoted to 1st Lt. in
September, 1942. In the same month he was sent overseas, where he
participated in landing operations in North Africa. He was wounded
in action in Sicily, and was killed on Anzio beachhead. He was
awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, for heroism in Sicily, and
the Purple Heart.
